Burdock Root (Arctium lappa)
Like that puppy you saw at the farmer’s market, burdock just wants to come home with you. She says this quite clearly through her seeds – which inspired the invention of Velcro, seriously – that cling and cloy to your every last pant leg, hair, sock cuff etc… But don’t be annoyed: once you give in to burdock and let her inside, she’ll begin to make herself useful, perhaps very useful indeed. Her ability to make herself at home with just about anyone and leave a place better than she found it are quite as remarkable as her burrs.
